Dear Friends,

The Trio launches into summer with our New Mexico Weekend Tour featuring Nick Coventry on fiddle. (See Nick at www.nickcoventry.com – he’s a wonderful musician!) Thanks to Bill and Celina Einig, we’ve added a house concert this Friday evening in Las Cruces. Contact Bill at the email below for reservations and directions. We follow with a 3pm show in Hillsboro on Saturday, two sets at RiverFest in Farmington starting at 3pm on Sunday, and a 6pm show at Sacred Grounds Coffee and Tea in Ruidoso on Memorial Day Monday. Catch us if you can!

For those of you in the Oklahoma City area, Anne will be playing the Blue Door with Joe Baxter and Andrea MacMullin on Friday, June 3rd. Are you in the Santa Fe area? Steve will be offering private lessons in Santa Fe on June 4th and 5th. And for ALL of you pickers out there, Steve will be teaching mandolin at Kamp Kaufmann in Maryville, TN the week of June 20th. It’s a high octane camp with high powered teachers. The tradition continues: Steve, Anne and Chris will all be teaching at Camp Bluegrass in Levelland, TX July 17-22. Check all of these opportunities out below and at the www.desertnight.com website. Take time to enjoy YOUR music this summer!

Thanks so much to our hosts at the Black Range Lodge and each and every one of you who participated in our Desert Night Acoustic Music Songwriter Intensive. Not only did you bring great songs to share, but also wiling spirits that added so much fun to some satisfying, purposeful work. The Trio thanks Tom Adler for being such an important part of DNA Music Camps! We’re gearing up for DNA Camp in Kingston, NM Oct. 7-9, three full days of music, innovative instruction, great food and fun. See you there!

The next big announcement will be the release of the new Tim May/Steve Smith Duo recording project! You may be able to snag a copy at their show in Pegram, TN at the Fiddle and Pick on Sat. June 25. Engineered and mixed by Steve at his studio, The Cave, and mastered by the incomparable David Glasser at Airshow, this CD expands on the duo’s impeccable playing to include some powerful (and beautiful) vocal tunes. You’ll be among the first to know when the project is available!

To paraphrase Burt Bacharach, “What the world needs now is music.” Thanks for making music, supporting live music, and enjoying our music!

Steve, Chris and Anne
